EDITING

The last post wouldnt let me add anything else so i had to start a new post. i have found a great photoshop book on still editing so if we export some footage as a filmstrip i could see what it looks like as a cartoon effect, similar to the desaturated look of the top image which was done with doubling the layers and desaturating the top one and lowering the opacity.

STILLS

Hey. these are the two ideas ^^

EDITING

Hey guys. edited most of the stop motion that we filmed on friday. looks great. just a few ideas for style for the actual footage. i really like salaryman6 by jake night, and think that the colour and letterbox style look great and think would suit our video if i could get hold of the filter. just want to know what you think. i think i have attached it for you to look at. if not i was thinking a shadowing greyscale look.

stop motion. friday 27th march

i really enjoyed the stop motion today. i felt that although none of us except kev had done it before it looks really effective and am looking forward to seeing the finished clips in action. i really like the set and think that we have put alot of effort into it and it looks really good. i am really looking forward to tuesday and finishing the stop motion and maybe we can experiment with different ideas that could work. i have been thinking and one idea i have come up with is, if it was possible would be to chroma key a picture or clip of either me or josh into the scene were the cars are jumping over the train. just a thought i know it could be difficult to do but if we get the shoot rapped up maybe we could have a play about with it??? see you all on tuesday at 9am sharp kids.

More ideas for sound

I was thinking we could use a helicopter sound for the birdseye view shots of the toy cars. this would add to the chase feel of the scene. We could record the sound of a skipping rope for this.

I got the idea from the Apocolypse now clip we got shown in the sound lecture. I also think we need a really good soundtrack to use for the chase. I have pasted the link for the apocolypse now clip below.

wed, 25.03.09 first day of filming!

I think todays filming went really well, although there were restrictions due to the weather, I'm glad that we chose to shoot the rest of the "car chase" when we did, just because we can't film one shot doesn't mean we can't film another section to keep the ball rolling.

I'm looking forward to filming close up "wheel-shots" and getting the extra shots of the "hands on steering wheel" ATTENTION TO DETAIL KIDS!

Also I really liked the impromptue idea of shooting the film from the POV of both cars, initially we were just going to shoot the film from the side view mirror and getting both car shots and filming not only from the side view mirror but from the POV of the chaser, was exciting and a fun, not to mention the extra footage which will fit in nicely with the montage of clips of the whole car chase!
I think the next step will be just getting it perfect, all the little shots for example: switching the engine on, the close up wheel spin shots, the close up of the car skidding through the puddles which I thought was a great idea Sam!! It will look very effective.
Oh now I come to mention it I also think a shot of what Josh can see in this rear view mirror.- I'll just film from the back window of his car could be effective... a refective POV shot of what Josh can see.
I've started work on the fake models alothough its alot tougher than I thought it would be! PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
welldone guys, good job today!

Todays Filming

Well done everyone about today. i think we covered alot. from talking to people on our course we are miles ahead. if we can get almost all of the filming done this week ill log it and start editing next week. personally i think we are working very well together and think we will more than likely finish our project well before the deadline if we continute to work at our current pace. Also i will bring another tape tomorrow just incase and i think we should maybes meet up tomorrow evening to show one another our work on the model set. btw from trial and error i think that the best solution for making the set is A4 craft card and not that cardboard i got us all from work, as the final set would look alot more professional and 'slick' with white craft card.

ill shall bring my slr on friday for the stop motion filming. and when my computer is fixed i shall make some 'pop art' style graphics for the video. i think its due back in a week and a half, unless if you refer back to the video i posted on here under sam's 'hi guys' post, if you fast forward to the end there is another way in which we could do the explosion which will also look really good. just for your consideration guys, just get back to me with feedback when i start and edit and stuff.

cheers,

Kev

Ideas for sound

Alot of the sound will be recorded on set, for example - car door shuting, footsteps. For this we will need a rifle mic to ensure the sounds are really clear. We could echo the sounds of footsteps for example to create an eerie feel and create suspense.

We could record some radio clips to edit in for when the character turns on the ignition of the car. The music on the radio could carry on after we cut from inside the car and could then become the soundtrack to the chase. I think this will help the shots to flow together.

An idea we talked about it our first presentations that i think we should try and do is include cartoon style sounds for the cars, like the japanese style sounds used in the Kill Bill. I think this will add to the spoof effect that we are trying to create.

You tube - example car chase

Ive found an example of a stop motion car chase on you tube. I think this one works really well, the close up shots from behind the cars look really good. Although it does work on the floor i think it will be better if we make a set like we said, I think it will add to the spoof effect.

ok

sounds good guys sorry i haven't been in touch ive been working soo much recently!
we should probably check this at least once a day everyday from now on, just to say in the "loop"... cya at 2.30 in the hubbs guys

My inital idea

The subject of my film will be the digital world we live in today. It will represent the digital journey of messages, data and conversations that we all have every day. The piece will give audiences an impression of a journey that we can only imagine because we can never see it.

Style - The film will have a similar style to Stefan Nadelman’s ‘Terminal Bar’. There will be a voiceover used at the start of the film as an introduction for the audience. We will use images of different types of communication technology, but will use zoom and pans to keep the impression of movement. Similarly to ‘Terminal Bar’ we will split the screen when building up the digital sounds and conversations. This will create a rhythm and give the piece a sense of movement. For the interview shots we will position the camera below the interviewee, this will give the impression they are typing their answer into a computer or mobile phone.
